Today’s Outfitey: Chiffon Top 04

Posted on

With the rainy season being here to stay for a few more months, it is really hard to dress up. Again this key piece is another sheer top (that I scored on Ebay again, woot!) that’s made from silk (not chiffon). Another versatile piece indeed.

Nerdy Girly

THE OUTFITEY:

Gray silk 3/4 top: Diane Von Furstenberg

Gray inner cami: Forever 21

Black shorts: Forever 21

Rubber flats: Melissa

Eyeglasses: Gucci

My Melissa flats is one of my rainy casual comfort shoes. I like how scented it is and how soft it is on my feet plus it totally protects my feet from rain & me from slipping, LOL. Tip: if you plan on getting a shoe (of any kind) with a body made of rubber don’t hesitate to test it by walking on it a few times before buying it. Shoes made of rubber may tend to cause friction on your feet especially if it’s brand new.

That’s all!

Today’s Outfitey: Wide Leg Denim

Posted on

Here’s another look on one of my (recent) favorite key piece, wide leg denim.

Again, I like how my outfiteys are simple. If ever I’d glam it up, I just add a key accessory to go with the key piece. But I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone in terms of styling. Although I must admit I’m not that ready to wear outfits that very much says “lookbook”, let me just say I’m still learning 😉

Apple Bottom jeans NOT! LOL

Very much 70s lang ang peg ko oh! LOL

THE OUTFITEY:

Gray tank top: Bayo

Denim Wide leg pants: R.A.F. (Plains & Prints)

Brown Wedges: Charles & Keith

Tan belt: Forever 21

Charm necklace: Store in Greenhills tiangge

Green patent bag: Mango

Ayun lang (That’s all)

Heehee

Rizal @150: Rizalizing The Future

Posted on

This year marks the 150th year of birth of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. In honor of this momentous event, an exhibit entitled: Rizalizing The Future presented by the Yuchengco Museum opened to the public last June 3,2011. I for one have a thing with museums and history. Although I couldn’t entirely memorize it and I am not really engrossed with any historical figure or event, I am more drawn with what was not published by popular books. So upon learning that there was a “tweetup” amongst Filipino tweeple who share the same interest in the life & story of Rizal, I immediately signed up for it.

So  last June 2, 2011  I together with my not-so-new found friends on Twitter were fortunate enough to get a firsthand look at the pieces of famous Filipino artists and Rizaliana memorabilia honoring our national hero, Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda, a day before the museum officially opened.

I won’t bore you with description & information about the exhibit, rather will entertain you via this photo story.

Here’s a look at what went on that night.

Meet the tweeple 🙂

I think I’ve shown enough photos, I won’t spoil the exhibit for those who plan on seeing it. How alive Rizal is and how he is seen and remembered by the people around him is something that you have to witness for yourself. This is your chance to realize that you have a connection with Rizal and  share your own Rizalizing.

RIZALizing the Future is on view until Oct. 29,2011.

The Yuchengco Museum is at RCBC Plaza, corner Ayala and Sen. Gil Puyat Avenues, Makati City. Museum hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For information, call 889-1234 or e-mail info@yuchengcomuseum.org.

Tried & Tested: The Body Shop Products

Posted on

Hi everyone! I’d just like to share with you all that even before I’ve been using MAC Cosmetics, I’ve been loyal to The Body Shop products. It was actually my sister who first used their products and later on introduced them to me. What I like about this company more than their products is their values (being against animal testing) and different kinds of advocacies (signature campaign against sex trafficking) which are evidently seen and have been successful thus far.

Having learned that they’re on sale (by the time I post this I think their sale has already ended-sorry!) I once again revisited my first loved store (of all things pretty and eco-friendly). Take a look at what I got.

my loot

Again as I’ve said before, I am just like any other girl who goes gaga whenever she enters any make-up or toiletries store. BUT. Unlike any other girls, I have learned to buy what I only need. If you only knew how hard that was, seeing a lot of make-up and beauty tools for half of their retail prices can really test your self-resistance and yes, I thank my will power that I managed to resist! See I’m no longer an impulsive shopper! Hooooray! 😀

Pardon if I don’t remember exactly how much each cost. I threw away the receipt and wasn’t able to check the prices plus I am very forgetful (blame it on the anesthesia) 😦

Paddle Brush P1200

This is the only product that I remembered the price , because it was NOT on sale LOL. Fine, it was less 10%  but since I got another product that’s also 10% off , the sales personnel who assisted me suggest that the second product (the lower-priced) be on 50% off instead of availing for the lousy 10% (so I agreed of course!)

Now if you’re too lazy (as I am) to brush your hair, the problem maybe because you don’t have a nice hair brush. Yes, sometimes it’s not you but the product that you use that makes you too lazy to take care of yourself. I quite have a good brush (from Goody) but I find it really heavy and that a few strokes tend to hurt my scalp and make me exhausted just like that, resulting to me opting on using my mini brush instead (one that I keep in my bag) from The Body Shop (as well). It’s light (although tiny) yet it easily detangles my hair. I thought it’s time I buy a bigger version of it thus, my first priority was to buy this paddle brush. Now, I’m loving brushing my hair, it’s not a burden to go for that 100 brush strokes every night! Even G loves using my paddle brush! This is an investment worth investing on ladies 🙂

Lip and Cheek tint P400+

I’ve been using The Body Shop’s Lip and Cheek Tint since I can remember (bagets days pa! I mean me and not the TV show, LOL) So this is the second thing I looked for during the sale. I’m not sure how much it is if it’s not on sale, not sure if it was at 40 or 50% off either. See, that just means I don’t buy them when they’re not on sale (tipid mode talaga). Yes, I am being frugal (My new motto: Why buy it on its regular price when you can wait for it when they put it on sale?!) I use this for my au naturelle look (will blog about that soon)

Blackhead remover P195

Yes, I bought this because I need it! I remember purchasing this before and left it at my parent’s house (when I got married and moved out) but I can’t find it anymore. The first time I asked The Body Shop for it, one of their sales personnel said they’ve stopped selling it. I was deeply saddened by that news. But look what I found in another branch of theirs, it is not discontinued after all, just ran out of stock. Tsk.

Tea Tree Blemish Gel P400+

This is one product that I can truly vouch for. Tried and tested to remove blemishes! This is the product that I got for 50% off so I got it for P200+. This is a better version of the famous sebo de macho, it smells good too. But if you want a more easy on the budget blemish remover I’ve got one that you might be interested in (but I won’t mention it here and I’ll just post it in another entry).

cake bronzer blush P1000+

I have only 2 blush on shades one is rosy pink and the other is brownish orange and I need not more BUT (yes, the big BUT strikes again) my sister-in-law was with me and she needed to buy a blush on, and we’ve learned that this pretty one is on sale (if you buy one, you can get the second one for P15 ONLY) and to be fair I suggested to my SIL that we both buy and pay only half for each bronzer, so we paid only P600+ for it, a steal indeed 🙂

So happy that I controlled myself and that I was able to buy the things that I need and want (yes you can need and want something at the same time) in their sale prices! Wohoooo! I love sales! 😉

For more information check out The Body Shop’s website for what they offer and what they stand for.

In lieu to this post please check out my other post regarding the loyalty card of The Body Shop.

That’s all!

ooo,

J.

*UPDATE*

as of today June 29,2011 The Body Shop has extended their sale! So go get your desired beauty products from them! 🙂 YAY!

The Proust Questionnaire

Posted on

It is a habit of mine to read my favorite blogs, mostly at the start of the week (Mondays). One of them includes Topaz Horizon. I like how personal Frances’ blog is yet it gives the feeling that you can totally relate with her. So I’ve read one of her post about Vanity Fair’s Proust Questionnaire and find it very thought-provoking. I am not really an avid fan of  magazines mainly because I know it’s not part of my to-buy things or at least not even think about buying the latest issues-always the back issues that are on sale. I have not allotted a budget for magazines but I always have an “extra” budget for books (yes, I know right?) So I try to get the latest scoops online via blogs or the magazines’ websites and links.

What exactly is the Proust Questionnaire? According to Wikipedia Proust questionnaire is a personality test, its name and modern popularity as a form of interview is owed to the responses given by the French writer Marcel Proust.

So let me answer The Interactive Proust Questionnaire from Vanity Fair.

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

– Spending time with my family and having everything we need at the moment.

2. What is your greatest fear?

-To live and die alone (be away from my family)

3. Which historical figure do you most identify with?

– Lady Godiva.

Lady, lady, lady

4. Which living person do you most admire?

– My mom and husband.

5. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

– Being always too nice and too good to other people resulting in them taking advantage.

6. What is the trait you most deplore in others?

– Arrogance combined with insecurity resulting in bringing other people down.

7. What is your greatest extravagance?

My being way too nice.

8. On what occasion do you lie?

-I lie if the person I lie to gets hurt unnecessarily.

9. What do you dislike most about your appearance?

– My legs, they tend to look manly.

10. When and where are you happiest?

– When I got married in 2008 & when I gave birth to my daughter in 2010.

Mr. & Mrs. Go

The Day G arrived

11. If you can change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

– To be more vocal on things that really need to be said.

12. If you can change one thing about your family what would it be?

– To have a deeper understanding of each other.

13. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

-Sending myself to college.

14. If you die and came back as a person or a thing what do you think it would be?

– I’d be a butterfly.

spread your wings

15. What is your most treasured possession?

– Photos & videos of family & friends, my engagement & wedding ring plus the jewelries given by my mom and mother-in-law.

16. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

– People who use or put other people down so that they can rise above them.

17. Who are your heroes in real life?

– My husband, my parents and my parents-in-law.

18. What is it that you most dislike?

– Fear that comes with regret.

19. How would you like to die?

– Natural death  of course. But on a serious note, I wanna go when I’ve taught every valuable life lesson to my kids.

20. What is your motto?

–  You can if you think you can.

So with that, my result was :

Proust celebrity results

Clearly I answered much like Arnold Schwarzenegger! (Should I be proud?) I answered like a governor! LOL

and as a Fashion Designer

whaddayaknow?!

Pati si Kumareng Karl (close?!) Ka-level ko din! Naks! :p

But seriously, questionnaires like this can really be thought-provoking. I may be in my mid-20s but I think I’ve seen the worse that life has to offer thus I think this way. In the end such test like this won’t really dictate or tell who you are, only you can know who you are and what you’ve become over the years. I had a migraine fun answering this questionnaire though, it makes me know myself even more.

If you want to take this questionnaire click here.

Have a great week ahead! 🙂

2/30 Day Song Challenge

Posted on

Day 2 of the 30 Day Song Challenge

Your least favorite song

Papaya Song. The song that made almost the entire people of the Philippines (and even the hosts of Good Morning America) groove, popularized by Edu Manzano during his hosting stint on Game KNB (game show). Although at first it irritated me at how powerful it can cause LSS, but it was also a memorable song. It was the song I did an MTV for my video editing class back in college. I spent hours of editing which got me eating, living and breathing the entire song for days! Brings back memories whenever I hear it & once heard, you can’t help but do the dance move.

Yes, it was viral.
